Rishikesh: – Rishikesh is a city and municipal council which is located in Dehradun District of Uttarakhand state in India. It is located in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 409 meters above sea level. Rishikesh is surrounded by the Shivalik range which is approx 35 km away from Haridwar and approx 250 km from National capital Delhi. Rishikesh is India’s 7th most populated city and largest municipal council in Uttarakhand. Rishikesh and Haridwar are the first to be given the title of “twin national heritage cities” of India. The famous attraction of Rishikesh is the great river Ganges herself, running rapidly throughout the city and people mostly visit here to do water rafting in river Ganges. Rishikesh is a holy town with so many Ashrams and meat, alcohol is strictly prohibited in this city due to its spiritual holy environment. Every year during the month of March, one week long International yoga festival is hosted in Rishikesh and it is now known as the yoga capital of the world.  This place is known as the gateway of Chardham and attracts millions of pilgrims every year for spiritual peace, relief, yoga and adventure.

Rishikesh is not only known for the religious beliefs, apart from that this place attracts thousands of people every year as this city is also hub for the adventurous activities such as rafting, camping, trekking and bungee jumping. The two bridges of Rishikesh are very famous and play a major role in day to day life of this place. The two suspensions are known as Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula which was named after lord Ram and his brother Lakshman, who supposedly crossed the river Ganges at Rishikesh on their way up to the hills. Rishikesh is considerd as a holy city of Hindu pilgrim who came here to visit different temples. The most famous Neelkanth Temple is situated in Rishikesh at the height of 1675 Meters.
